Description

The TC8000 multiplexes up to 24 channels of Analog or Intercom Signals over single mode or multimode fiber optic cable. It supports voice bandwidths from 300 Hz to 3.4 KHz. The analog interface is for FSK (frequency shift key) applications. It has a 600 ohm isolation audio transformer and supports voltages from 0 to 3 Vpp. The intercom interface is for 4-wire voice communication. It connects to a handset with mouth-and-ear piece.

The TC8000 digitizes the audio signals and converts them to PCM (pulse code modulation). Since the analog and voice signals are digitized, the voice quality does not degrade over extended distances. Distances to 30 km are typical via 1300nm single mode fiber, to 4 km over 850nm multimode fiber.

The TC8000 is available standalone or rack mount. Standalone versions support up to 8 channels, rack mount support up to 28 channels.

The TC8000 multiplexes up to 26 channels of standard data interfaces, RS-232, RS-422/485, TTL and Dry Contact Closures. Interface modules are interchangeable. Four RJ-11 ports are provided on the rear side to connect with handsets or customer's audio devices. Built-in power redundancy is standard. Optical redundancy is available as an option. Fiber Optical connectors are ST; FC is optional. Electrical connectors are RJ-11. Power is 9 to 12VDC or 115/230VAC with an external power cube.

Typical Application (Application Questions)

The TC8000 is frequently used in audio/intercom environments where it is necessary to transmit multiple intercom quality channels or FSK modem channels from one location to another via fiber optic cable. It is also used in harsh environments where ground loops, EMI/RFI interference and lighting conditions may occur.
